It's spring, and if the past has shown us anything about North Korea-- missiles fly when flowers bloom.

It's a behavioral phenomenon singular to the Hermit Kingdom. The country lies on the periphery of international attention until, with the well-calculated flip of a missile-test switch, it goes from a mere object of intrigue to the center of grave apocalyptic concern.

North Korea may have been dealt a cruel geographic hand (rock mountains & a cold climate), but its tyrannical survival strategy and nuclear insurance policy have allowed this economically weak country a surprising amount of geopolitical power.
